Welcome
Welcome to Camp Kedron! We are a Christian Camp Retreat and Conference Centre located on the edge of the beautiful Kuringai Chase National Park, close to the northern beaches of Sydney.
We provide fully-catered accommodation for groups of up to 130 people. Groups that use our site include churches, youth groups, university Christian groups as well as schools for their retreats and band camps. Our staff provide a friendly welcome, delicious home-cooked meals, and everything you need to ensure a pleasant stay.
During the school holidays we run holiday camps for primary and high-school age children, as well as a camp for youth with additional needs every April. Children love coming back to Kedron, as it a place of fun, friendships, faith and community.
We look forward to seeing you at Camp Kedron soon!
Why Christian Camping?
For generations young people have packed their sleeping bags and their pillows under their arms and left home for a week away at camp. There’s something so special about leaving the distractions and busyness of home (siblings and mobile phones!), and coming to camp.
Camp is a place of community. Campers stay together in cabins, they have meals together, they play games together, sing, discuss, laugh and cry together. It’s a place where they experience fun and friendships, while exploring the issues of life that matter to them.
Research shows that many of our young people of today struggle with a sense of hopelessness and a lack of meaning in life. They struggle with loneliness, brokenness, addictions and a belief that they are worthless.
We believe that camping is a life-changing experience because of the caring, genuine community that it creates. On camp, campers find acceptance, encouragement, genuine friendships and great role-models. Our hope is that every camper who comes will have an awesome week of fun, but also discover that they are loved by God and have value and purpose in life.
Our Purpose
Camp Kedron is operated by United Christian Youth, to provide a non-profit, non-denominational, non-political Christian environment to serve the following purposes:
- Organise camps so as to provide opportunities for young people to have social contact, physical exercise and spiritual development.
- Combat the prevalent community trend towards juvenile delinquency by providing positive activities into which the energy of youth can be profitably directed, through physical and spiritual education.
- Organise activities that will encourage youth in Christian service, fellowship, loyalty, friendship and leadership.
- Providing facilities whereby young people can learn about the salvation provided in the Lord Jesus Christ and develop obedience, discipline, tolerance, self-respect and all that tends to true Christian living.
- Assisting anyone who is impoverished, suffering distress of misfortune, physically or intellectually handicapped, and
- To generally provide services and activities of benefit to the community.
What we believe
As a Christian camp we hold to the following beliefs:
- The Bible is God’s Word to us. It is inspired, infallible and the final authority on all matters on which it speaks.
- That the Lord our God is one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and that He fulfills His sovereign purposes by calling out from the world a people united to Himself and to each other in love.
- That God had made us in His own likeness and image, but we have sinned and come short of His glory.
- That the Father in His grace has shown us His love by giving us Jesus Christ, His only Son. Whoever places their trust in Him will be saved and made right with Him.
- That Jesus Christ is Lord and God. He was born of the virgin Mary, as a servant, sinless, full of grace and truth, and died on the cross in our place, redeeming us from the grip and punishment of sin. He rose back to life, and will one day return in glory and judgment to establish His kingdom.
- That the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and directs sinners to turn to Christ in repentance. He is present within all believers, and makes every believer partake in the life of the risen Christ.
- That God has created marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman, and that this is the only proper place for sexual intimacy and the basis of the family. We adhere to the Biblical teaching of lifelong fidelity in marriage and abstinence for those who are not married.
