Hey Leaders!

We are so thankful for you serving with us here at Camp Kedron. Thank you for your commitment to serving our great King.

All leaders (18 years and over) are required to have a a Working with Children Check (see below for details).

We are always looking for young, committed Christians who are mature, who love Jesus and have a heart for sharing the gospel with children. The minimum age to be a junior leader is 15, although most of our leaders are uni-age and in their 20’s.

If this describes you and you would like to lead here at Camp, please complete this New Leader application form above. We will be in touch with you shortly.

Camp Kedron Code of Conduct

At Camp Kedron we recognise the great responsibility we have when taking care of children at camp. All Camp employees, leaders and volunteers are required to maintain high standards of conduct and behaviour at Camp, and to agree to keep this Code of Conduct.

As a representative of Camp Kedron:

I WILL:

  • Conduct myself in a manner that faithfully represents Jesus Christ and Biblical principles for living.
  • Carry out relationships with all those around me at camp with care, honesty, respect and integrity.
  • Be fully committed to the well-being and safety of all children at camp.
  • Treat all children with dignity, respect, kindness and honesty.
  • Be encouraging, and use appropriate and positive language around children at all times.
  • Respect the feelings and privacy of a child when engaging in physical contact of any kind.
  • Carry out all conversations with children within sight of another person. (The two-person rule to be in place at all times).
  • Ensure that any inappropriate incidents or acts of abuse are reported to the Camp Director or Child Safety Officer immediately.

I WILL NOT:

  • Cause any harm to or mistreat a child.
  • Allow or tolerate bullying or humiliation of a child.
  • Discriminate between children or develop any “special” relationships with a child that can be seen as favouritism, such as the giving of special treatment.
  • Be alone in a room with a child when either the leader or child is dressing.
  • Use coarse language, carry out conversations of a sexual nature, or make sexual gestures or remarks.
  • Initiate or have any sexual or inappropriate personal relationship with a child, knowing that such contact is reportable conduct.
  • Conduct any activity that is unsafe or in breach of the Camp Kedron Child Safety Policy and Training guidelines.

We ask all leaders to agree to this Code of Conduct when registering for camp.

Working with Children Check

All of our leaders (18 years and over) are required to complete a Working With Children Check. This process is quite simple and is free.

If you live outside of NSW, then possibly you don’t need to get the check done. (Please contact us if this applies to you.)

To get the check done, here’s what to do:

  1. Complete the online application form.  (In the application, for the question “Child-related sector”, answer “Residential Services”).
  2. Go to a Service NSW centre with your application number and photo ID (e.g. driver’s license).
  3. The NSW Office of the Childrens Guardian will then run a background check on you. Once this is complete, they will send you an email to notify you that you have been cleared to work with children, and give you a WWC number.
  4. Email your Working with Children (WWC) number to your Camp Director and include it on the Camp Registration form when registering for camp.
