What is Life Exchange?

Life Exchange is a 5-night camp in the April school holidays. We have campers come to camp who have additional needs, such as downs syndrome and autism, and you get to be a camp buddy to them. Together we do games, activities, crafts, have a campfire and an outing, a concert and lots more. You will be given a specific buddy and your role is to be friend, helper and support to them. We’re a Christian campsite so each morning we also have singing, a Bible talk and a discussion time that’s aimed to engage and be relevant.

Why come?

Life Exchange teaches you about helping others and stepping into the shoes of someone else. It’ll take you out of your comfort zone and it will grow your heart to care for others, especially those with additional needs. And you’ll experience such special friendships as we live together in this supportive and fun camp community.

What are the dates and costs?

The cost of the camp is $305, this includes all meals, accommodation and activities.

Arrival time: 4pm, Tuesday April 22, 2025

Camp finish: 11am: Sunday, April 27, 2025

How do I prepare for camp?

Firstly ensure you have appropriate approval from your Duke of Ed Coordinator. Then come to camp with a positive and willing attitude. We will provide some helpful training on the afternoon and evening you arrive at camp to help prepare you for the week ahead.

What is the accommodation like?

You will stay in comfy cabins with other mainstream campers like yourself and some additional needs campers. You will be able to be roommates with any friends you have who are also coming.

How do I get signed off after camp?

Prior to camp we will be in touch regarding your assessor and their email address. After camp you can sign into the Online Record Book and submit your request to be assessed in the Residential Project section. You can also attach your personal report there.

What else to know?

About 2 weeks before camp we will email you our Camp Information Letter which has information about what to bring to camp.

Its important to know that campers aren’t allowed to bring any devices or phones to camp, so you can fully enjoy the camp experience and get to know others on camp and not be distracted by other things. If you need to access your phone for some reason during the week, we can have it stored securely for you so you can access it when needed.
