Code of Conduct

Camp Kedron is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for all children and young people who participate in our camps and programs.

All Camp Kedron employees, leaders and volunteers are required to maintain high standards of conduct and behaviour at Camp, and to agree to keep this Code of Conduct. We are called to follow the example of Jesus, by serving with compassion, humility, patience, care and integrity.

As a representative of Camp Kedron:

I WILL:

  • Conduct myself in a manner that faithfully represents Jesus Christ and Biblical principles for living.
  • Carry out relationships with all those around me at camp with care, honesty, respect and integrity.
  • Be fully committed to the well-being and safety of all children at camp.
  • Treat all children with dignity, respect, kindness and honesty.
  • Be encouraging, and use appropriate and positive language around children at all times.
  • Respect the feelings and privacy of a child when engaging in physical contact of any kind.
  • Carry out all conversations with children within sight of another person.
  • Communicate with integrity, and ensure any use of social media is accountable and transparent.
  • Ensure that any inappropriate incidents or acts of abuse are reported to the Camp Director or Child Safety Officer immediately.

I WILL NOT:

  • Cause any harm to or mistreat a child.
  • Allow or tolerate bullying or humiliation of a child.
  • Discriminate between children or develop any “special” relationships with a child that can be seen as favouritism, such as the giving of special treatment.
  • Be alone in a room with a child when either the leader or child is dressing.
  • Use coarse language, carry out conversations of a sexual nature, or make sexual gestures or remarks.
  • Initiate or have any sexual or inappropriate personal relationship with a child, knowing that such conduct is reportable.
  • Contact or follow a child of the opposite gender through texting or social media.
  • Contact a child through social media when the child’s parents or guardian have not given their express permission.
  • Conduct any activity that is unsafe or in breach of the Camp Kedron Child Safety Policy and Training guidelines.

As an employee/volunteer of Camp Kedron, I agree to uphold the standards of behaviour in this code of conduct.
